Chocolate Abundance Part I

It has been two years since I have visited Mona and her wonderful Chocolate Shop called Island Angel Chocolates. It was good to see her shop thriving. While I was in there she rang her big gong twice for having a full house. The line was long and she worked the crowds with her friendly personality and free samples of the creamiest fudge that has ever crossed my palate. Once the crowds cleared I was able to chat with her to find out that she has won some awards for her chocolates and gift sets. Good for her I say. What a dream come true for her. We chatted about sipping chocolate and some new techniques she has added to making it a smoother and richer experience. I blogged about Sipping Chocolate a few weeks ago but wanted to fill you in on the changes that she has made.

New Information on Sipping Chocolate- Must Read!

I informed Mona that I am always burning my first batch of Sipping Chocolate, which could be due to my failure to focus on anything that takes time. So here is Mona’s advice that she has developed over the last two years:

1. You must heat the cream slowly and gently first then add the chocolate to melt into the cream.

2. Add a small amount of sipping chocolate to your cup and stir in the spices you want to have with it. She said it was like making a roux. Once the spices are smooth then top off your cup with the rest of the sipping chocolate.

Ha, that will solve the chunks of chipotle powder I was swallowing then gasping for air from the “heat.” She was happy to share this new information so that my and now your Sipping Chocolate experience at home could be even better.

Here is Mona and I in her shop. She is holding a tray of freshly dipped Lime Truffles. You can see her gong behind us that gets rung when there is a full house. It is a well worn gong from all the business she brings in. Her truffles are creamy, soft and full of flavor and I have to say that her Sea Salt Caramels are the best caramels ever. Very soft and perfectly salted. She ships too!

Update- Recently I have received some awards and meme’s from some great bloggers out there. Check out my Awards page to see what award from whom and what songs I have been jammin’ to. Thanks all!

Rindy, Lisa, and Hedonisten- Thanks for commenting! Mona makes some really nice chocolates and so fresh too. I like the fact that she is using a Belgian chocolate as well! Yum.
