The rain has begun falling here on this Memorial Day Weekend. Typical. I think it has rained every (almost) Memorial Day of my life and 16 years ago I choose to get married on Memorial Day Weekend- an outdoor wedding in New Jersey. What was I thinking? But low and behold we had a gorgeous and perfect day. A humid free, 78 degree, and sunny day. The NJ State Bird- the mosquito even cooperated and stayed away.
This Memorial Day Weekend I decided to make Strawberry Freezer Jam for Himself since it is one of his favorites. I made a huge batch, enough to share with friends as well. I simply followed the recipe on the Ball Fruit Pectin packet.
I could have done this in the food processor but I was in a power tool kind of mood. I pureed 8 pounds of washed and hulled strawberries, added 3 cups of sugar, and 2 packets of Ball Fruit Pectin.
The color was bright and radiant! Ball also sells small 8 ounce plastic containers with screw on tops especially made for freezer jam. I filled ten for friends and two more huge containers for us. Each container was delivered to some neighbors with American Flags to jazz up the neighborhood for Memorial Day. This is an easy and delicious little task that is definitely tops in the instant gratification category.
We love this jam on toast, waffles, pancakes, and ice cream.
Enjoy your Monday off and this video of Andrea Bocelli singing a lullaby to Elmo.

I love this – I’ve never made jam, but I think I have to try this freezer version! My “himself” dearly loves strawberry jam, so he’d be thrilled!
I love your projects. You make them so easy!
Like Joan said, you make this look so easy! You’ve (almost) inspired me to give it a go, Robin Sue! My husband’s mom used to make strawberry rhubarb jam and I bet he would be tickled if I made some for him. I think I have an idea for a Father’s Day gift!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
I’m really glad I saw your post because I’ve been thinking about making freezer jam myself. I’ll have to look for the little packets w/ the recipe on the back. Looks wonderful, and it’s so nice to have it just right there in the freezer!
What a nice thing to do for your neighbors (and HImself!) on Memorial Day!
I am dying to make freezer jam. Happy Anniversary! So far, we have a beautiful day in southern NJ today.
Such a superb idea Robin! Your jams look delicious.
Yummm… your jam looks delicsh. Happy Anniversary to you two.
Wow, impressive. The strawberry jam looks so nice in those containers with the bluish lids. I’m sure they were beautiful with the American flags and very well received!!

i hadn’t seen those ball products, but i shall be on the lookout! way to break out the immersion blender, robin sue–strawberry jam rules.
Always have to go to the power tools when possible.
I have never seen the freezer jam stuff and if it allows me to not deal with a pressure cooker I am all about it.
Great idea!
So no canning required? I need to keep an eye out for these containers, I will have more fruit than I know what to do with soon.
What a great idea. I love giving away goodies to neighbors b/c they never expect to get anything homemade.
It rained a couple times in the late afternoon (on Sat. and Sun.) but not enough to dampen our days. It was warm and the lemonade and vodkas (only for the adults of course) was flowing. Memorial Day was gorgeous. Just like your wedding day.
Happy Anniversary!!
any suggestions for a store that carrys the storage containers and the pectin mix?
Walmart is the best for the pectin and usually have containers in stock.
