Simply S'mores

Summertime. Lemonade, grilling out, long walks, and S'mores. Our fire pit is used year round but recently we have made it a bit of a routine to roast bounties of marshmallows and make S'mores. There is something relaxing about holding a stick with a marshmallow close enough to the fire for that perfectly browned finish. Then making that S'more and finding the perfect eating position so not to wear it. Kinda bent over, leaning into the S'more but with it slightly higher than your mouth to catch any dripping chocolate.

Eating these around a fire conjures up stories of yesteryear, maybe a remembrance of one's first S'more.

Do you remember your first S'more? Your last S'more?

The other night, I told of a time I had been around a fire in Poland and while we Americans were making S'mores, the ingredients of which were easily obtained from the commissary, some Poles were roasting kielbasa. Oh those kielbasa giving off that scrumptious aroma while its juices dripped into the fire. We each had something the other wanted and could not get, nor could we speak eachother's language. We all ended up sharing and found that mmm mmming in English is the same as in Polish.

Next time you grill out, make S'mores. It's simple and simply wonderful.

Wipes required.

Thanks to Rob, my brother for the great photos (1,5,6) and the very cute props, his two children, Graham and Mia.

Ever since the hubs' disappointing "deep fried smores" I've been waiting for him to request smores for dessert to make up for it.

classic. simply s'mores are simply delicious and simply a disaster on a white shirt waiting to happen. :)

Great pics!! I did smores over the weekend, but we didn't grill out and I didn't want to turn on the oven, so I did them in the microwave. It actually takes only 6 seconds to heat the marshmallow in the microwave!! (They puff up real big!)

Easy clean up too!

We camp at my parents pond frequently this summer. Smores are a must. We bought some of the new Caramel Vanilla marshallows to try and roast this weekend.

You are one brave woman, to let your kids eat s'mores while wearing white (or else your kids are very tidy)!!! My kids would have those white shirts trashed in seconds!!! :o)
I have many fond memories from my childhood of eating s'mores around the campfire with family and friends! We charred many a marshmallow trying to get them nicely toasted and just melty enough!
Have a great 4th of July weekend, Robin Sue!

You know, I don't remember the last time I had a S'mores. That's definitely something we need to do at our house. I had fun today, can't wait to do it again. :)

Graham crackers, marshmellows, and chocolate bars. A summer necessity.

What timing! I just made up a batch of fresh marshmallows today for S'mores on the 4th. I managed to burn my mouth while "testing", but yummy! Now I am looking forward to them even more.

Since French marshmallows don't melt like American ones do, I can't wait to get home to have some of these!

Jaye, how hard is it to make fresh marshmallows?

And Robin, your pictures are really beautiful (as are your niece and nephew).

Those are really great photos! That marshmallow looks so perfect to me. I was always so careful to brown mine and not let them burn. A fire pit sounds like fun!

Thanks to this post, I decided to buy the ingredients for our Fourth of July celebration. My daughter loves them, and she suggested we just microwave them. So not only did we have homemade ice cream, but after a suitable interval, we had s'mores too. :)) Messy, decadent, delicious.
