You mean there is an art to wearing your dreams? Yes. Your biggest, fattest dreams. It’s like a delicate dance really, one where you have to figure out the rhythm, the steps, the count. Then there’s dance partners, the push and pull of who’s leading, toes getting stepped on, the audience. And if you think it’s a contest- the judges. No contest? Judges still the same.
I’m a journeyman in this dream business, while Himself is a professional helping others realize their dreams, and our dream life is the guinea pig. Ironically, seven years ago it was my faith and dreams that kept me clinging to life, making me think that maybe this dream business is more serious than what some people give it credit. Then there is this shady area of life goals versus dreams. What’s the difference? I don’t know, maybe our attitude, the way we achieve them, the severity of the sacrifice. Maybe it’s this…
I will not have Starbucks coffee for one year so that I can go to Puerto Rico this winter. Sacrifice made for a dream.
I will not go to Puerto Rico this year so that I can save for my children’s college fund. Sacrificing a dream for a goal.
Possessing dreams is a wonderful thing. Dreams coming true is priceless. So if the possession of dreams is so wonderful, can you imagine actually fulfilling all of them? I am living my dreams, not all at the same time, some may never come to fruition, but having them keeps me going just the same. In saying I am living my dreams also comes with it all the unsaid things- hard work, loss, disappointment, failure, heartache, a messy house, missed dinners, miscommunication, waste, and exhaustion. Now that sounds more realistic than this dreamy stuff, huh? It seems to all go hand in hand fortunately.
Join me as I explore The Art of Wearing Our Fat Dreams right here on one of my biggest dreams- Big Red Kitchen. (Don’t’ worry, there will still be good food!)
