Ah the glamour of it all! Christmas Parties galore, then on to the New Year's Eve all night, champagne clinking celebrations. One year on Christmas Eve, our family tried to do The Feast of the Seven Fishes, popular in most Italian homes, but let me tell you, we only made it to five fishes. We were stuffed! After that experience, we have stayed true to one or two of our favorite seafood dishes, this Shrimp Louis being Himself's first choice. The very first year, I dumped the entire tray of it too, and had to start all over again. Nothing like Christmas bloopers.
Shrimp Louis
Ingredients:
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tsp. horseradish
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. Tabasco sauce
1 tsp. dried minced onion, not powder
1/4 cup chopped red pepper
1 clove garlic
1/4 tsp Kosher salt
1/8 tsp. cracked black pepper, and more for sprinkling
1 T. lemon juice
2 tsp. lemon zest
2 pounds 26-30 count shelled shrimp, cooked, tails removed
1 heart of romaine, shredded
8 lemon wedges for garnish
8 parsley leaves for garnish
Instructions:
In a blender on medium speed, blend the first 13 ingredients- mayonnaise through lemon zest. Rough chop shrimp and toss with Louis Sauce. Divide romaine between 8 martini glasses. Divide out the shrimp mixture between the 8 glasses and place over the romaine lettuce. Garnish with a lemon wedge, parsley leaf, and a dash more of black pepper. Serve immediately. Serves 8.
MasonATE it...

To top it all off Shabby Apple and I have teamed up to giveaway the Boogie Woogie Dress to one of my readers.
"Some things are just better together: peanut butter and chocolate, Ella and Shrimp Louis, love and dancing. We decided to pair two things we love—the soft, cotton jersey of our favorite t-shirt, and the gorgeous sateen of our Jazz Age collection—to create the Boogie Woogie, an indispensably comfortable-yet-elegant little black dress. A luxe jersey cap sleeve top is gathered at the waist with a wide satin sash, and a veritable bouquet of appliquéd, ruched flowers and leaves adorns the full sateen skirt that swirls just below your knee. A truly inspired combination, the Boogie Woogie has star potential."

My favorite cocktail at the moment is a French Kiss Martini. Soooo yummy.
ashsgram@gmail.com
LOVE this recipe! It's become a favorite annual Christmas treat.
I'll go with my favorite Christmas AND fashion-themed mixer, The Disaronno Fashionista Twist:
1 oz of Disaronno
1 oz of Tawny Port
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
Shake in a cocktail mixer with ice, strain into a martini glass & garnish with an orange twist.
My favorite cocktail is the 20th century. It's classy and always a big hit.
You can find the recipe here: http://www.imbibemagazine.com/Recipe-Twentieth-Century
Also - I LOVE Shabby Apple dresses!!
There are just too many that I like, and they all are dependent upon my mood and the time of day. Spicy Bloody Mary's have to be at the top of the list though, using Ditka's mix and 3 Olive vodka. When I'm out dancing, I lean towards a simple screw driver or a T&T. Yes, I am plain and simple :-)
There are only two drinks I like
Frozen margarita's with extra salt and Crown and Coke for special occasions.
Love LOVE love the dress for "my friend" winks.

Spicy Ginger Apple
Apple Spice Bourbon and Ginger Ale.
Do it, now!
I love a good Bloody Mary, but this time of year hot apple cider with spiced rum is fantastic!

I totally forgot about that dish - one of the restaurants I worked at made it every holiday season. I was too weirded out by mayo at the time, bet I would love it now!
One of my goals for 2012? Wear a dress. Seriously, because all my weight is in my middle, I never wear skirts or dresses.
So if I won this dress, I could hang it up by dressing room so I could see it as motivation to get my ass (or abs!) moving!
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! And thanks for being such a great and supportive friend - so glad we were able to meet in person!
Mine will have to be a mocktail as I don't drink but I like the idea of a Mojito.
My favorite cocktail is a Cosmopolitan!

Having grown up in New Orleans, and then returning there again as an adult, one of my favorite cocktail foods is Shrimp Arnaud, from Arnaud's Restaurant.
(You can find it, and more, on the restaurant's Web site.)
Serve it with an ice cold vodka tonic, or gin and tonic, and I'm all set. :-)
